Manchester University Mountaineering Club was founded by the Rucksack Club in 1927. Since then we have grown into one of the largest sports clubs in the University of Manchester Athletic Union.
Every year we introduce newcomers to the sport by providing support and instruction in basic skills, such as belaying and safety. We also organise exciting trips to the Peak District, Lake District, Snowdonia, Fontainebleau and many other locations.
As a club that has had its official 90th birthday celebration in March, it has a long and rich history, its legacy largely unknown to most members. The committee members ask if anyone could kindly send us in an email, with stories of your adventures with the club and after you left the club. The stories you send will be published on the website and a legacy will be preserved so the next generation of climbers can continue to push the limits of climbing.
