Manchester University Mountaineering Club (MUMC) is one of the biggest sports clubs at the university. We take part in a wide range of climbing disciplines, meaning there is something for everyone to do. Casual sessions, training programmes, outdoor trips and weekly socials are just part of what we offer to our members. We welcome all abilities, from complete beginners to seasoned alpinists, and love to help members improve their skills and gain confidence.
Regular Meet Ups
As a club we have the following weekly meet ups:
- Bouldering @ Rock Over every Monday from 6pm
- Roped climbing @ Manchester Climbing Centre every Wednesday from 2pm
We also have other meet ups throughout the year, including Cuppa and Climb and This Girl Can. Check out the calendar to find out when these sessions are running.
Learn To Sessions
Whether you’re a complete beginner to climbing, you want to improve your technique, or you’re ready to start getting into the outdoors, MUMC has something to teach you. We’ll be running teaching sessions in all disciplines of climbing throughout the year, from the very basics of putting on a harness for the first time, to learning how to brave the Scottish winter on our Winter Skills trip. Keep an eye out for more details on our socials.
Each year we select a team to represent us in various competitions throughout the year, including BUCS and NUBS. Check out the Teams and Training page for more information if you’re interested in competing.
MUMC is more than just climbing – we run a wide range of socials aimed at bringing our members together. This year we’ve got some great socials planned to stick to COVID-19 guidelines (hope you like zoom quizzes).
